Before the construction of Levi’s Stadium, the former home of the San Francisco 49ers used to be the Candlestick Park, located in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco.
Built in the late 50s, it was America’s first modern stadium that was built entirely of reinforced concrete with a seating capacity of 43,000.
During its 55-year-long history, the Candlestick Park witnessed many magical moments in NFL history.
Nevertheless, at the advent of the 21st century the ‘Stick proved inadequate and the stadium was demolished soon after the opening of Levi’s Stadium.
