The first satellite image from 1 March 2012 shows the wreck on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The image was taken only two weeks after fuel pumping operations began. At that time the ship was still leaning on its side.
In the second image from 22 September 2013, you can see numerous changes in the area. The ship is now in a fully upright position, following the righting operation from 16-17 September.
On 22 September the ship was kept on platform, being prepared for refloating operations. The image detects intense rescue operations as many boats from specialist rescue services as well as salvage companies are around the wreck. In fact, on 22 September 2013 specialist divers were searching the area for missing bodies.
